Cadence Allegro Layout
DVD Training Series

DVD 1 - Cadence Allegro Library Generation - Build Parts

Introducing CA Design's Cadence-Allegro Layout DVD Training Series. This first installment will guide you through the creation of your own library parts, also known as footprints. Included in this portable classroom are detailed sections on pins/padstacks, assembly outline, silkscreen, reference designators, and place boundary. Order DVD 1: Library Parts Generation today and experience CA Design's skilled instruction on the fundamentals as well as bonus tips from our design experts in a clearly narrated, step-by-step video. Additional support is also always available to our customers via email or phone.

DVD 2 - Placement and Constraints

In the second of the series, you will learn how to create a new board, import a net list, place parts including mounting holes, and prepare up your board for routing.

We show you the importance of using a "Start Board" to standardize your documentation and constraints. We walk you through various problems you may encounter while loading your net list and placing your parts. We then take you through all of the steps you will need to set up your standard rules for routing the board, including stack-up, spacing, and physical constraints. We discuss placement strategies, vias, trace widths, spacing requirements, and mechanical interface requirements. Once you have finished DVD2, you will be ready to start routing your board.

DVD 3 - Routing and Documentation

In the third and final DVD of the series, you will pick up where DVD2 leaves off. You will take the board which you have placed and prepared, and begin routing. We discuss "break-out vias" and preparing the board for routing. You will learn how to set up split planes with multiple voltages on the same layer. You will learn how to do copper pour areas with multiple vias, and how to route differential pairs. We then show you how to evaluate your DRC (Design Rule Check) violations, and review the status of your route. Once the board is routed, we teach you how to set up your board for fabrication documentation. We go over Silkscreens, Soldermasks, Solder Paste layers, Assembly layers, and fabrication drawings. We show you how to bring in your notes, fabrication details, and drill charts. When you have completed the design, we walk you through all of the steps required to generate the multitude of files required for fabrication, including Gerber, Drill, IPC-356, ODB Plus, and other standard outputs.

Upon completion of the entire DVD Layout series, you will be able to take a board from the schematic all the way to the fabrication and assembly house.
