  1. Altium Designer Introduction training (4 days)

    • Course Description: This 4 day course will introduce the Altium Designer environment, taking Students from start to finish in creating a simple design. At the Schematic level, students will learn how to wire a schematic and work with Schematic Symbol Libraries. In addition, each individual will acquire the skills to transfer the design to a PCB, utilize PCB library footprints and export Manufacturing files required for PCB fabrication.
    • Prerequisite: Experience with Microsoft Windows

    Altium Designer schematic capture & PCB editing training

    This course is suitable for users who are unfamiliar with Altium Designer as well as users wanting to brush-up on the latest schematic and board-level features of Altium Designer. The course begins with a basic introduction but quickly advances to have you designing and laying out your own schematics and PCBs (4 Day Course). Topics include:

    • Introduction to Altium Designer environment
    • Schematic editor environment, features and processes
    • Schematic / PCB libraries
    • PCB design process
    • Creating a PCB and setting up PCB layers
    • Component placement and routing
    • Advanced navigation techniques
    • Design rules
    • Design output generation
  2. Altium Designer Advanced Training

    • Course Description: This 2 day course will introduce advanced concepts, processes and methodologies associated with the Altium PCB Design editor. Students will acquire a more complete and advanced knowledge of Altium's powerful PCB design environment and learn advanced editing techniques to increase productivity and efficiency.
    • Prerequisite: Intro to Altium Designer Training
    • Target Audience: Engineers and PCB Designers who need to gain a better understanding of the advanced features and techniques available within the PCB editing environment, and how to use them.

    Altium Designer Advanced Training is for Altium Designer users who have previously taken the three day Schematic and PCB training class and who would like to take their skills to the next level by further learning about advanced topics.

    Topics covered in the two day class include:

    Day One:

    • New features introduction

    • How to setup Pin Swapping
    • Design re-use in Altium Designer
    • Multi-channel design

    • Signal Integrity Tool
    • Using Design Variants
    • Panelization in PCB
    • Using Camtastic
  3. Altium Designer Library Setup and Management (2 Days) (pending approval from Altium)

    • Course Description: This 2 day course will cover the many facets of the Altium library, from symbol and footprint creation, to library methods such as integrated, database, and subversion database libraries. Focus on optimizing Altium's library methodologies, including the configuration and management of SVN libraries; processes for linking references such as datasheets and weblinks into the schematic library symbols; linking and configuring models such as SPICE and IBIS to the schematic component; taking advantage of the global editing tools such as the IPC footprint wizard and Smart Grid Insert for rapid symbol development; and linking 3-D models into the PCB component.
    • Prerequisite: Intro to Altium Designer Training
    • Target Audience: Engineers, PCB Designers, Librarians, and Component Engineers that need to understand the options available when developing and deploying the different type of libraries available with Altium Designer.
